This month’s Yolo Audubon meeting features Benny Jacobs-Schwartz, who will give a lecture entitled ‘The Magic of Central America: Costa Rica’s Birds and Ecology.’
Costa Rica has long been regarded as one of the top tropical birding destinations in the world. This small Central American country is roughly the size of West Virginia yet it is home to around 5% of the
world’s biodiversity that includes over 90 species of birds, including 47 endemics.0
Jacobs-Schwartz will talk about some of the ecological factors that have contributed to making Costa Rica an international birding mecca.
Isaac Jacobs-Schwartz owns a bird-guiding business and lifestyle brand called BIRDS by BIJS. He has worked as a naturalist and an international bird guide for over 10 years. He is also a passionate educator and photographer specializing in birds.
The meeting will be held on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.
