Internationally, it is leading tremendously at the North American box office, and even before completing a week, the film has comfortably crossed the breakeven mark and has already generated profits for buyers. Director Anil Ravipudi and Venkatesh have hit it out of the park for the third consecutive time. After F2 and F3, the duo has scored a hat trick of successes. In fact, their latest release has been a much bigger success than their previous releases. While it enjoyed the complete benefit of the Sankranti mood, the consistency post-the festive season has surprised everyone.
In North America, Sankranthiki Vasthunam was expected to suffer and get sandwiched between Ram Charan’s Game Changer and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj. In reality, it has defeated the two Tollywood biggies and has already become a profitable venture for buyers. Among all three Sankranti releases, this Venkatesh starrer has become the first and the only one to hit the breakeven so far.
It is learned that Sankranthiki Vasthunam scored an excellent $312K on Sunday, which is slightly lower than the opening day (last Tuesday) of $352K. Including this, the total collection of the film stands at $2.128 million at the North American box office after 6 days. This is a superb score considering the breakeven of just $1.35 million.
Before the release, the expectations for the Venkatesh starrer were a bit low, and its breakeven value was set at $1.35 million, which is 11.66 crores in Indian rupees. However, the film has exceeded all expectations and has already earned good profits for buyers. If we compare the breakeven value with the total collection of $2.128 million (18.38 crores), we can see that the film is already enjoying an overflow of 6.72 crores.
Considering positive word-of-mouth, Sankranthiki Vasthunam is expected to enjoy a long run at the North American box office. As of now, $3.5 million looks like a comfortable target.
