The trip includes participation in the Future Summit and the 79th United Nations General Assembly, as well as an official state visit to Cuba from September 21 to 27.
Among the key members of the delegation are Politburo members: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; and Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security.
Other high-ranking officials include Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.
In the U.S., General Secretary and President To Lam will deliver key messages at the Future Summit and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, reaffirming Vietnam’s strong support for multilateralism and the UN’s role in promoting peace, cooperation, and development. He will also engage in bilateral meetings and participate in various events in New York.
The visit to the U.S. coincides with the one-year anniversary of the upgrading of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as preparations for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. To Lam is expected to hold important meetings with U.S. government leaders and discuss further developments in the Vietnam-U.S. relationship.
After completing his U.S. engagements, General Secretary and President To Lam will head to Cuba for an official state visit at the invitation of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez. This visit is of particular significance as the two nations prepare to celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations.
During the visit, Mr. To Lam will hold talks with Cuban President Diaz-Canel, meet with Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, and pay a courtesy visit to General Raul Castro Ruz. These meetings aim to further strengthen the historical and strategic partnership between the two nations.
