Former President Donald Trump on a podcast repeated a debunked rumor that the late communist Cuba dictator Fidel Castro could have been the father of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“He’s turned very liberal, actually they say he’s the son of Fidel Castro, and could be,” Trump told podcaster Adin Ross. “Anything’s possible in this world, you know.”
The Canadian government in 2018 officially denied that Trudeau was the son of Castro and Margaret Trudeau, the Daily Mail reported.
Trudeau is the son of Margaret Trudeau and former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
Following Castro’s death in 2016, Justin Trudeau called Castro “a larger-than-life legendary revolutionary” and some in the past had remarked on the younger Trudeau’s resemblance to Castro.
Pierre and Margaret Trudeau and their youngest son, Michael, visited Castro in Cuba in 1976. Pierre Trudeau and Castro remained close for years after the trip. Justin Trudeau visited Cuba a week before Castro’s death.
Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger was booed a few weeks ago when he praised Justin Trudeau from the stage during a band performance in British Columbia.
But he also appeared to poke fun at Margaret Trudeau, who made headlines when she partied with the Rolling Stones in the 1970s.
“We love you, Mr. Trudeau,” Jagger said. “I mean, his family has always been such big fans of our band.”
Trump allegedly accused Margaret Trudeau of sleeping with all the Rolling Stones, according to a 2021 book by former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.
Jagger scoffed at the claim at the time.
“It’s really embarrassing,” Jagger said. “It just isn’t true, ya know?”
“She just came for a two-night concert,” the Stones frontman said, “she just wanted to have a good time, I dunno.”
