Lam will make the visits at the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Irish President Michael D. Higgins, and French President Emmanuel Macron, respectively.

Ahead of the visits, Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son stated that the leader’s upcoming overseas tour affirms Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.

The trip also shows that Vietnam treasures its relations with the three countries and wishes to further elevate the cooperation with them, Son added.

The visit to Mongolia comes as the two countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the bilateral relationship is at its best, Son said.

Lam’s trip to Ireland will be the first state visit since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1996.

Vietnam and France celebrated 50 years of relations and the 10th anniversary of a strategic partnership in 2023.

Vietnam’s Party chief has wrapped up a working trip to the U.S. to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79) and pay a state visit to Cuba from September 21-27.

On August 18-20, Lam paid a state visit to China and met with the highest leaders of the neighboring nation. This was his first trip abroad after becoming the Party chief in early August.
