Curaçao Hosts Approximately 20 Key Tourism Leaders at the North America Trade Symposium (NATS) – KIKO TA PASANDO

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA), in collaboration with Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) and the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), proudly hosts the North America Trade Symposium from October 28 to October 31, 2024. This event reinforces Curaçao’s commitment to expanding its global tourism presence, showcasing the island’s exceptional beauty, premier hotels, and vibrant culture to influential North American and Canadian tour operators, including Expedia, Booking.com, UVI Sandals, and Vacation Express.

At the opening event, Mimi Luttge welcomed all participants to Curaçao, setting a warm tone for the symposium. Anuschka Cova, Chief Executive Officer of CHATA, discussed Curaçao’s room capacity and the vital role of its people in creating unforgettable visitor experiences. Peggy Croes, from Curaçao Airport Partners, addressed the crucial airlift and airport dynamics supporting tourism growth, while Muryad de Bruin from CTB provided an overview of the tourism sector’s significance.

Given that North America is Curaçao’s second-largest tourism market, CHATA, CAP, and CTB recognize the vital role these tour operators play. Unlike agents who sell directly to travelers, these operators extend Curaçao’s reach by showcasing the destination to thousands through their networks. By experiencing Curaçao firsthand, these industry leaders are now positioned to share an authentic understanding of Curaçao with prospective travelers.

Throughout the symposium, the itinerary combines business and leisure, with opportunities for operators to connect at the welcome reception, deepen relationships during one-on-one meetings with hotel representatives, explore various accommodations, and engage in the island’s artistic culture, including the Kaya Kaya Art Walk.

The Ministry of Economic Development has also shown strong support, with Minister Cooper delivering a welcoming address to these new ambassadors of Curaçao. Minister Cooper will attend the closing event, and Prime Minister Pisas is planned to be present, joining general managers, tourism partners, and tour operators for a special dinner at the Cathedral of Thorns. This event will celebrate the successful days spent exploring Curaçao’s unique attractions and preparing to share its beauty with travelers worldwide.

We look forward to continuing to organize this event every other year to ensure that tour operators can keep seeing and experiencing the growth of Curaçao’s hospitality and tourism sector.
