WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao experienced a remarkable surge in online interest over the past year, with a 30% increase in searches as a travel destination between September and December compared to the same period in 2023. This data comes from an analysis by Amadeus, a global airline ticketing and travel reservation system.
Curaçao’s growth surpasses other Caribbean destinations like Aruba (+24%) and Puerto Rico (+22%).
According to the report, Curaçao is gaining particular traction among travelers from South America. Improved flight connections with countries in the region have made the island more appealing. Despite the surge in search activity, Curaçao ranks only seventh in the list of the most-searched destinations in the Caribbean, with the Dominican Republic leading the pack.
However, the increase in searches has not yet translated into bookings. In the list of most-booked Caribbean destinations, Curaçao does not make the cut, while neighboring Aruba secures the fourth spot. Amadeus highlights the need for Curaçao to enhance its visibility through various marketing channels and strengthen partnerships with travel agencies to convert online interest into actual bookings.
The report, created by Amadeus in collaboration with the UN World Tourism Organization, offers insights into key trends shaping the Caribbean tourism sector.
