KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced its upcoming winter season schedule, with the season lasting until March 2025.
Among the changes include flights to Portland International Airport (PDX), increased frequencies to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and flights to Edmonton International Airport (YEG).
Premium comfort on all Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft
KLM’s announcement on September 25 read that during this winter season, it will operate flights to 155 destinations, including 89 in Europe and 66 points on the map beyond Europe.
Additional news was that the Premium Comfort class, which is KLM’s brand name for its premium economy cabin that offers more legroom and a “unique catering concept,” was now bookable on all Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft, which KLM has 31 (15 777-200ER, 16 777-300ER) and 23 (ten 787-10 and 13 787-9), respectively.

Another new addition to its fleet was the Airbus A321neo, with KLM starting commercial flights with the type on September 16 after having taken delivery of the aircraft in August.
The A321neo will be used on various short-haul routes in Europe and KLM anticipates to have four aircraft of the type by the end of the year.
While KLM will not fly any new routes within Europe, it has increased frequencies on flights from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport(AMS) to Belfast International Airport (BFS), Billund Airport (BLL), Bilbao Airport (BIO), Bremen Airport (BRE), Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport (ALC), and Rovaniemi Airport (RVN), which serves as the airport of the Santa Claus Village, a tourist attraction near the Arctic Circle.
Replacing Delta Air Lines on flights to Portland
In terms of its network in North America, KLM said that it would operate flights to 19 destinations in the region, including Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The only new addition was Portland International Airport (PDX), which was previously served by Delta Air Lines. KLM’s statement read that the airline took over the destination from its SkyTeam partner.
However, it will operate more flights to San Francisco, with five weekly flights increasing to daily itineraries midway through the season, as well as flying four to five times per week to Edmonton, Canada.
Its US network will include 12 destinations, including double daily flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Network in the Caribbean and Africa
Other network highlights include an additional weekly flight to Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport (PBM), a combined itinerary from Amsterdam to Saint Martin Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) and Port of Spain Piarco International Airport (POS) with an additional frequency, and during Christmas and spring, KLM will offer additional flights to Curaçao International Airport (CUR).
In South America, KLM will fly daily to Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Panama, as well as San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) and Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Costa Rica.

The latter two airports will be combined into a single itinerary after the runway refurbishment is completed at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport.
In Africa, KLM has scheduled daily flights to Accra Kotoka International Airport (ACC), Cape Town International Airport (CPT), Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS), Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB).
However, there are caveats: the Duch airline will add two weekly flights to Cape Town during the Christmas period, while flights to Dar es Salaam will be served via stops at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO, five times a week) and Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ, two times a week).
KLM has planned five weekly flights to Kigali International Airport (KGL) and Entebbe International Airport (EBB).
Troubles in Asia
However, citing demand that has not recovered since the end of the pandemic and its inability to fly over Russia, KLM said that its winter schedule on flights to China, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand will remain identical in terms of their frequencies.

The Dutch carrier will also have a significant schedule in the Middle East, with daily flights to Dubai International Airport (DXB) and six weekly departures to Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH) and Dammam King Fahd International Airport (DMM).
KLM did not mention whether it planned to return to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) during the winter season. Data from the aviation analytics company Cirium showed that the carrier has planned flights to Israel starting April 2025.
