But it’s certainly possible to get even more out of the Caribbean, as well as Bermuda and the Bahamas.

How Voting Works
Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Over 186,000 T+L readers completed the 2024 survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:

What Readers Loved
The resorts readers loved best spanned 13 countries and territories, but no matter which island they landed on, T+L readers found the setting unmatched — a testament to just how ideally situated this year’s hideaways are.
“The location and view are incredible,” wrote one reader of Malliouhana (No. 19) in Anguilla. “We loved the two beautiful pools and the beaches. Our room was huge and we had an incredible view.” Another chimed in with a similarly rave review: “Warm and friendly resort with the best location on the island.”
Cap Maison (No. 13) in St. Lucia also had plenty of effusive praise for its dreamy location on a cliffside perch overlooking Smugglers Cove, within easy reach of Rodney Bay. “I have never been to such a beautiful place,” said one fan. “The accommodations were some of the best I’ve ever been to. The restaurant on site is the best I’ve ever been to, and the food presentation is unmatched.”
In Negril, Jamaica, Tensing Pen (No. 2), scattered across the cliffs overlooking a series of rocky coves, received praise from several repeat visitors. One reader who has stayed on the property three times noted the cliffside views, while another has made it a go-to family haunt for more than 40 years. Not only did she and her husband honeymoon at the site, but her children also learned to swim off the platformed cliffs. “The facilities are beautiful and the staff exceptional,” she said. “Our family photo albums are dotted with pictures of our family and the Tensing Pen staff.” She sums it up with a universal truth that applies equally to all the properties on this year’s list: “So many memories…so little time.”

Secret Bay: Portsmouth, Dominica

Dominica is known as Nature Island, and Secret Bay offers travelers a gateway to all that wild, rugged beauty — without slouching on the luxury front. With 22 standalone villas spread across acres of rain forest, this nature-centric escape is the place to go for a secluded, away-from-it-all feel. “We loved the privacy of the villa we stayed in; it was an oasis from every standpoint,” one voter said. Another effused that “the staff treat you like family and as if you are the only guest at the resort.” One voter recalled how the staff leapt into action, going above and beyond to tackle his unusual challenge: A trail-clearing project on a friend’s nearby estate. “The concierge lined up a crew to help us, including machetes and ice cold water,” he explained. But the biggest vote of confidence came from one especially well-traveled T+L reader: “I have been to 42 countries and stayed at a lot of amazing places. My wife and I have a pact to never return to the same place twice, but Secret Bay and the beautiful country of Dominica may end up being the exception,” he writes. “Secret Bay is simply amazing and is the best property I have ever stayed at in the entire Caribbean.”
