Higuey (Agenzia Fides) РThe Bishop of Higuey, His Exc. Mgr. Nicanor Pe̱a, President of the Episcopal Conference of the Dominican Republic, asked everyone to transform the country into a homeland where everyone can live safely and where Dominicans are not afraid of each other. He also urged the political authorities to establish a sincere and open dialogue to discuss major national issues.
This is how Mgr. Peña expressed himself during the Mass celebrated in the Basilica of Higuey, on the occasion of the feast of the Patroness saint of the Dominican Republic, the Virgin of Altagracia, which was attended by President Danilo Medina and other government officials, and hundreds of faithful from all over the country.
The Virgin of Altagracia gives us the strength to continue to serve others, carrying out the works of mercy, the Bishop said: “In her hands we place our country, all Dominicans, so that She intercedes for us, to have the grace to live our life of faith intensely without fear, as she herself did”, Mgr.
