Yet another Democrat is fleeing the party and heading over to MAGA country.
Sammy Ravelo, who ran for election for Bronx Borough President in New York in 2021, announced he is done with the Democratic Party. Ravelo, who was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, took to social media to reveal he has been the target of “vile and racist attacks” since he announced his support for former President Donald Trump.
“I have received more vile and racist attacks in the last 24 hours since leaving the Democrat Party and supporting @realDonaldTrump for president,” he wrote on X Monday.
“The funny thing is that the attacks are coming from the same people who preach ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.’ All that means zero unless you are on the left,” he added.
“It’s incredible how some people react to differing opinions, but I won’t be silenced. I’m proud of my choice and excited to join a movement that puts America first,” he wrote, reinforcing his decision.

“Yesterday, I left the Democrat Party, and the sky didn’t fall. The sky is still blue today,” the Gulf War veteran and retired NYPD lieutenant wrote in another post.
He urged voters in his district that it’s “time to start re-registering as Republicans.”
“It’s time to leave the party that favors criminals over law-abiding citizens. If you are a Dominican cop, firefighter, correction officer, or sanitation worker, you should be a Republican,” he wrote. “The Democrat Party is no longer a viable party for us.”
