Bethesda-based hospitality company Marriott International Inc. Monday announced the opening of The Almare, a Luxury Collection resort in Isla Mujeres, Mexico and its 500th property in the Caribbean-Latin American (CALA) region.
In the past three years, Marriott’s CALA portfolio has grown from 300 properties to 500 properties in the region and approximately 10% of Marriott International’s global luxury portfolio is located in the region.
The Almare is an adults only, all-inclusive resort with 109 suites, each featuring ocean views, private balconies and luxurious amenities It also has seven distinct dining venues and bars and a spa.
This milestone opening underscores Marriott’s robust growth strategy and continued expansion in CALA, particularly in the luxury and all-inclusive segments.
Other anticipated additions in the region include Paraiso de la Bonita in Mexico, planned for the first quarter of 2025, followed by W Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, expected in the second quarter. Marriott International entered the all-inclusive hotel segment in 2019.
Marriott International has a portfolio of approximately 9,000 properties across more than 30 brands in 141 countries and territories.
