QUITO, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — Ecuador manager Sebastian Beccacece has urged his players to treat their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bolivia like a final as they seek to end the year on a positive note.
Bolivia has traditionally struggled to pick up points away from home in South America’s qualifiers, but Beccacece said his team would not underestimate a vastly improved La Verde side under manager Oscar Villegas.
“I don’t believe that they are easy to beat and for that reason I’ve asked our players to go out and play as if it were the last match of their lives. We will be giving everything we have,” the Argentine manager said.
“The reality is that Bolivia has been preparing since October 30 for this match, so it’s impossible for me to be relaxed knowing that they have had all of this time to get ready and that we have had so little. Despite this, we are going into the match in the highest spirits.”
Beccacece added: “We know that we have to treat every opponent with respect, but at the same time we don’t fear anyone. We have the speed, talent and courage to beat anyone.”
Following the clash with Bolivia, Ecuador will turn its attention to next Tuesday’s clash against Colombia in Barranquilla. Bolivia will host Paraguay in El Alto the same day.
Ecuador is currently fifth in the South American qualifying zone with 13 points while Bolivia is seventh, a point further back. Enditem
