Manchester United will have 12 players in action for their countries during the international break which comes at just the right time for Erik ten Hag. His troops are struggling for form, making the worst start to a Premier League campaign in the club’s history.

Europe

The UEFA Nations League continues with nine of the 12 Red Devils players set to represent European nations. Portugal called up Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot and the duo will likely be in action away to Poland (October 12) and Scotland (October 15).

Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are in the Netherlands’ squad for games against Hungary (October 11) and Germany (October 14). Ten Hag will be hoping the pair can bounce back from disappointing starts to their Manchester United careers.

Victor Lindelof returned in the Red Devils’ 0-0 draw against Aston Villa last weekend. The veteran defender could captain Sweden in games against Slovakia (October 11) and Estonia (October 14).

Altay Bayindir has been playing backup to Andre Onana at Old Trafford but could be No.1 for Turkiye in the Nations League. They face Montenegro (October 11) and Iceland (October 14).

Danish duo Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund have clashes against Euro 2024 winners Spain (October 12) and Switzerland (October 15). They are two of Denmark’s main men when on international duty.

United youngster James Scanlon will be the first of the Red Devils participating in the international break. He’ll represent Gibraltar in games against San Marino (October 10) and Liechtenstein (October 13).

Kobbie Mainoo was initially called up by England for their Nations League games but pulled out due to injury. This will be the first time the Three Lions don’t have a Red Devil in their squad since 1976.

South America

The CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifiers continue over in South America. Three of Manchester United’s crop were called up to represent their countries.

Argentina remain top of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiying table and Lisandro Martinez is in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for qualifiers against Venezuala (October 10) and Bolivia (October 16). Alejandro Garnacho pulled out due to fitness issues which will be assessed at Carrington.

Manuel Ugarte has fared well internationally this year and is once again in Uruguay’s squad. His nation, who sit third in the table, face Peru (October 12) and Ecuador (October 16).

Africa

Manchester United duo Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco) and Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast) pulled out of upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Andre Onana will look to carry his impressive United form into the international break with Cameroon. They face Kenya in a double header (October 11 and 14).
