El Salvador’s President and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced an unprecedented deal where El Salvador agreed to take in any criminals and illegal migrants that are deported under the Donald Trump Administration regardless of their nationality. El Salvador has also agreed to take in cartel members from MS-13 or Tren de Aragua who will be deported by the Trump administration. Rubio made the announcement in San Salvador where he also said that the United States and El Salvador have agreed to cooperate on civil nuclear energy projects. Bukele has been instrumental in cracking down on homicides in the country and has transformed El Salvador’s image from being a dangerous country to one of the safest.
