The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating whether Ticketmaster, the online ticket-selling platform breached consumer protection law. The investigation by the UK competition regulator was launched after the sale of Oasis reunion tickets included the use of “dynamic pricing”, which meant prices prices rose in line with demand. Earlier this summer the legendary UK rock outfit Oasis announced it was reuniting, marking the end of a near 15 year long feud between its founding members and brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher. The band’s reunion announcement was coupled with a slew of UK and Ireland shows slated for Summer 2025, including seven back to back shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. While at the time Oasis didn’t reveal any details for North American or other continental reunion shows, the band teased that North American dates would be coming in the following weeks.
Since then, Oasis has revealed they’ll be performing across five different cities in North America, with several cities set to host the band for back to back performances.
North American Dates
“America. Oasis is coming. You have one last chance to prove that you loved us all along,” the band posted to X.
With the announcement Oasis showed off the five North American cities they’ll be performing at next summer which stretch from East Rutherford, New Jersey to Mexico City, Mexico. The band has also announced that Cage The Elephant will be the supporting act for their 2025 North American shows.
Oasis’s North American dates are as follows:
Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Canada, on August 24th & 25th
Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, on August 28th
MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 31st & September 1st
Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on September 6th & 7th
Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, Mexico, on September 12th & 13th
These dates were all revealed earlier this week, however, yesterday Oasis announced they were adding an additional show to the New Jersey, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Toronto dates.
While the band hasn’t announced any other 2025 shows beyond North America, the UK, and Ireland, sources indicate the band is expected to perform in Australia, South America, and Asia next year as well.
Ticket Pricing and Availability
Tickets for Oasis’s North American dates are slated to go on sale to the public on Friday, October 4th at 12pm local venue time. Fans who managed to get access to the pre-sale will be able to acquire tickets as early as Thursday, October 3rd.
The major difference between Oasis’s Norther American and UK and Ireland dates is the pricing model. Following a fiasco in which UK and Ireland ticket buyers saw huge upticks in ticket prices as a result of Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model, Oasis has announced it will not be using Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing for their North American shows.
“It is widely accepted that dynamic pricing remains a useful tool to combat ticket touting and keep prices for a significant proportion of fans lower than the market rate and thus more affordable,” the band posted. “But, when unprecedented ticket demand (where the entire tour could be sold many times over at the moment tickets go on sale) is combined with technology that cannot cope with that demand, it becomes less effective and can lead to an unacceptable experience for fans.”
The Gallagher brothers made clear that they were not previously aware of the dynamic ticket pricing behind the UK and Ireland tickets, stating “It needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management.”
Following the uproar caused from the dynamic ticket pricing of the UK and Ireland shows, an investigation was launched by the UK’s competition regulator inquiring whether Ticketmaster breached consumer protection law.
With the North American shows not having dynamic ticket pricing ticket buyers will essentially see a fixed price on tickets, and one that’s not adjusted based on ticket demand.
Hopefully this will allow fans to have easier access to tickets for Oasis’s North American dates. The band’s previous misstep with the dynamic pricing model has certainly left many fans upset, provided the dynamic pricing model had many UK ticket prices adjusted from £150 to as high as £350 per ticket.
