Regarding cooperation, the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) provided €1.62 million in funding for a regional WWF project on the sustainable management of forest resources across the Guiana Shield. A new regional project started in 2013 as part of the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) initiative. The FFEM made a financial commitment of €1 million out of a total budget of €3.2 million. Co-financing on the European Interreg co-operation fund rounds out the funding plan.
Guyana is involved in certain French regional educational projects for fighting trafficking (particularly of narcotics). Furthermore, training sessions are held regularly in Guyana in the field of forensics and civilian protection.
