Immigration has become a major issue in the presidential election in France. But there is one far-flung corner of the country where it creates a very unusual social dynamic. Situated on the northern coast of South America, French Guiana is an administrative department of France. As it is surrounded by water, its borders are not so easy to control. A new exhibition at Paris’s Immigration Museum explores how immigration has affected this province.
