Icelandair has inked two new airline codeshare agreements with Air Greenland and Atlantic Airways.
The deals were signed at the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik yesterday giving greater connectivity between Greenland and the Faroe Islands to both North America and Europe.
The codeshares will enable easier travel on one ticket through Icelandair’s hub Reykjavik.
The airline codeshare flights are expected to be fully implemented in the first quarter 2025 for Icelandair and Atlantic Airways.
The agreement for Icelandair and Air Greenland flights will go live in mid-2025.
Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair said: “What we have in common is that we are all island nations that rely on efficient air transport to connect with the world.”
By joining forces and formalizing our partnerships, we will further strengthen air connectivity in the West-Nordic region and in the Arctic.”
Jacob Nitter Sørensen, CEO of Air Greenland added: “Together, we’re creating seamless travel opportunities and strengthening ties throughout the Nordics and the Arctic, from the Faroe Islands and Iceland to Greenland and beyond.”
