What do Greenlanders think about joining the U.S.?
Only 20% of Greenland is habitable and 56,000 people live on the nation. Why would President Trump possibly use military force to overtake the country?

When the idea of an American acquisition of Greenland first resurfaced after a previous attempt in 1946, I was slightly amused but now I’m saddened by the state of the world and what appears to be a defining moment in history between the U.S. and Europe.
As a half Dane and someone who has family in Denmark, I take particular interest and have some insight to how Danes feel about this most recent quest to basically steal land away from a NATO ally.
Arguing that it’s needed for the defense of North America really doesn’t make the case when obtaining the right to plant additional military bases could easily be agreed to through diplomacy.
Denmark has been a loyal partner to the U.S. and has already allowed the U.S. military to have a base and a consulate on the island.
Recent suspect activity by Russians and the Chinese in the Baltic Sea to cut communication cables and the increasing presence of the same in the Arctic region has certainly made Nordic countries aware of the outside interest.
So why not go about the goal of security with diplomacy to add additional bases and U.S. presence?
Because this is really about a president that wants to embolden his legacy, and nothing would accomplish that more than obtaining a land rich in minerals and by adding more geography.
To hell with Denmark, a country that holds the largest July 4th celebration outside the U.S. every year in the Rebild National Park and has been since 1912 to celebrate American Independence.
