MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League continued with the closing matches in the Play-In round on Tuesday.
Guadeloupe, Belize, and Guyana each built on their first-leg victories to secure their place in the Gold Cup Prelims.
Guadeloupe vs. Cayman Islands
Guadeloupe won 1-nil against the Cayman Islands in the second leg of their Play-In series at Stade Roger Zami in Le Gosier, Guadeloupe.
After winning 6-nil away in the first leg, Guadeloupe wins the series 7-nil on aggregate to advance to the Gold Cup Prelims.
Vikash Tille scored the lone goal of the encounter in the 88′ with a left-footed strike from outside the box.
Rubens Adelaide made two saves to earn the clean sheet.
French Guiana and Belize tied 2-2 in the second leg of their Play-In series at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Belize entered the match with a 2-1 lead thanks to their victory in the first leg.
Krisean López opened the scoring in the 40′ by striking at the far post to meet a pass from the right side of the field by Horace Avila.
Yvelin Nozile scored for French Guiana in the 48′ to cut the deficit on aggregate. Nozile struck at the far-left post to complete an attack from the hosts, meeting a ground pass from Jules Haabo.
Carlos Bernárdez struck in the 52′, scoring for the second consecutive match.
Haabo struck from the penalty spot in the 89′ to tie the second leg and pull within one goal on aggregate.
Belize won the series 4-3 on aggregate and is the lone nation out of the recent League C campaign to advance to the Gold Cup prelims.
Guyana won 5-3 against Barbados in the second leg of their Play-In series at the Synthetic Track and Field Stadium in Leonora, Guyana.
Osaze de Rosario struck for Guyana in the 27′, scoring in his second consecutive match from a header inside the penalty area.
De Rosario scored his second of the match in the 41′ with a left-footed strike inside the box.
The 23-year-old de Rosario completed his hat-trick in the 45’+2 with a header to score from a free kick service by Nathan Moriah-Welsh.
Thierry Gale pulled one back for the visitors in the 49′ with a strike in the box to meet a perfectly placed ball from Niall Reid-Stephen.
Omari Glasgow extended the lead for Guyana in the 57′ from an outside the box free kick.
Niall Reid-Stephen added his name to the scorers’ list in the 63′, using his footwork inside the box to create space to take his shot at goal.
Thierry Gale earned his brace in the 67′ with a screamer from outside the box to capitalize on a recovered ball in midfield by Ethan Taylor.
Guyana scored once more in the 90’+5 on an own goal from Nicoli Brathwaite, who was attempting to deny a shot towards goal from Isaiah Jones.
Guyana won the series 9-4 on aggregate to advance to the Gold Cup Prelims.
