Location: Guatemala

Subject:  Health Alert – State of Prevention Lifted; Health Pass No Longer Required for Entry

The Government of Guatemala announced April 30 that the State of Prevention, in effect April 16-30, 2021, would not be renewed.  However, previous requirements on social distancing in public and commercial facilities and mask wearing remain in effect, along with restrictions on entry into Guatemala (with limited exceptions) of individuals who have visited Brazil, the U.K., and South Africa in the past 14 days.  Additionally, arriving passengers are no longer required to present a Health Pass, and instead all passengers must present evidence of either: a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arrival; a COVID-19 vaccine course completed at least two weeks before arrival; or recovery from COVID-19 within three months of arrival.

Entering Guatemala for those who have visited Brazil, U.K., South Africa:

Foreigners who have visited Brazil, the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), or South Africa within the past 14 days are not permitted to enter Guatemala. Guatemalan nationals, permanent residents of Guatemala, accredited diplomats and airline crewmembers are allowed to enter, but are required to quarantine for a minimum of 10 days, in addition to existing testing requirements.

Entry Requirements For All Passengers:

All passengers age 10 and over arriving in Guatemala by air and land are required to present one of the following;

A negative COVID-19 PCR or an Antigen test taken within 72 hours prior to check in at the airport, or arrival at the land border.

If you have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months, a medical certificate from the healthcare facility where you received treatment showing evidence of the date of your diagnosis, and confirmation of your recovery.

Evidence that you have received a complete COVID-19 vaccination course, with the second dose being administered at least two weeks before arrival in Guatemala.
