The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service has opened applications for an upcoming trade mission to Guatemala City, scheduled for March 3-7, 2025.

This mission is designed for U.S. exporters looking to expand or start their export operations in Central America, particularly in Guatemala, the largest economic hub in the region.

“We are excited to return to Guatemala after our successful 2018 mission,” said Daniel Whitley, Administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service. “This trade mission offers an ideal platform to deepen trade ties in the region.”

In 2023, Guatemala led Central America in U.S. agricultural imports, purchasing $1.7 billion worth of products. This mission coincides with the phasing out of all remaining tariffs under the Central America-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement by 2025, setting the stage for enhanced U.S. market presence.

Participants in the trade mission will have opportunities to engage in business-to-business meetings tailored to their market interests with buyers from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. They will also benefit from market briefings, site visits, and networking events organized by the Foreign Agricultural Service and regional experts.

The trade mission will explore export opportunities across a range of sectors including meats, dairy, consumer foods, and beverages.

Applications for this strategic trade initiative close on December 3, 2024. For more details or to apply, interested parties can visit the USDA’s website https://fas.usda.gov/topics/trade-missions/guatemala-march-2025 official site.
