Lynnzee Brown made history by being the first Haitian gymnast to compete in the Olympics. The Olympics website states that even though Brown was born in Missouri, USA, her father’s birthplace of Haiti allowed her to represent that country.
In June, Brown announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that she had been confirmed for the Haitian Olympic Team saying, “I’m at a loss for words that I have been given this opportunity. I hope to represent and make the Haitian Federation proud. I thank them for pushing me to go after what I once was too scared to try.”
Brown, currently the Penn State women’s gymnastics assistant coach, demonstrated her abilities on the world stage during the qualification round of the women’s artistic gymnastics competition at the Paris Games, according to Gopsusports.
Brown recorded her highest-ever all-around score in international competition on Sunday in Paris — 48.832. Her all-around score comprised a magnificent 13.566 on vault, a 12.233 on floor, an 11.533 on beam, and an 11.500 on uneven bars. Despite her stunning performance, she did not get enough points to move to the next round.
GoPSUSports reported on Sunday that the former star player for Denver will return to Happy Valley after the Olympics to serve as an assistant coach and help shape the Nittany Lions’ 2025 squad.
After Penn State’s incredible 2024 season in which the team made it to the NCAA Regional Final, Brown and her other assistant coaches were selected as the North East Region’s Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year.
Throughout her career, Brown has won 20 Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) All-America honors. She made her international elite debut at the 2023 Pan American Championships in Medellin.
