BPO vendor Ibex has expanded its operations in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, adding 10,000 square feet to its delivery center, originally launched in 2021.
This expansion will boost Ibex’s operational capacity in Honduras by over 30%, according to a company press release,
The new facility has created nearly 200 additional workstations, with the company estimating that this could result in approximately 250 new job opportunities.
Ibex also reported a significant increase in its Honduran workforce, with headcount growing nearly 250% during the 2024 financial year.
Ibex is one of the few foreign BPOs operating in Tegucigalpa, a city once considered a hub for criminal activity until its resurgence in recent years.
The expansion marks a positive shift for the company, following concerns over potential contraction in its U.S. nearshore operations. Ibex’s nearshore revenue declined by 7.8% between June 2023 and June 2024, mainly due to macroeconomic challenges in North America.
In 2023, Ibex generated US$155.8 million in revenue from its nearshore operations, which include Jamaica, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The company continues to perform well in verticals such as retail, e-commerce, travel, and health-tech, although it has faced challenges with telecommunications and fintech clients.
