When Mexican police officer Antonio “El Diablo” Riano was arrested in the capital city of this Latin American country and handed over to the US officials Thursday, all around him were shocked. After all, he has been working there as a police officer for 20 years. But, they came to know about the startling fact after his arrest that the Mexican police officer was an American fugitive. He was a wanted suspect in the December 2004 shooting incident taking place in Cincinnati, and the US agencies were searching for him. According to ‘New York Post’, Riano fled the US after he allegedly shot and killed Benjamin Becerra in 2004. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office declared him the “Most Wanted”. He was profiled on an episode of the popular TV show “America’s Most Wanted.”

Riano was flown to Cincinnati and sent to the Butler County Jail where he will stay till the trial is held. When a reporter asked him at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport why he had become a police officer, Antonio “El Diablo” Riano said that he wanted to help the people of Mexico.Argument and murder
A witness said that on December 19, 2004, Riano and Becerra got into an argument at the Roundhouse Bar in Hamilton, Ohio. They also quarreled outside the bar where Riano fatally shot Becerra in the face.
The case went cold. A big break came earlier this year after Paul Newton, a former deputy on the case “started actively looking” for Riano in January. The police officer discovered “El Diablo” running a Facebook page. The officials found him living in Oaxaca, Mexico, working as a police officer at the Zapotitlan Palmas Police Department.
