Brazil kicks off its Copa America preparations against one of the top teams in CONCACAF, Mexico, with a huge turnout expected in Texas.
The Selecao headed to the US for this summer’s tournament with a new coach, Dorival Jr, and a need to stabilize after a tough few months and what’s been a disastrous start to World Cup qualifying.
While expectations back home are to win the Copa, Brazil could also be excused for using this tournament to try and find a new starting 11, especially with stalwarts Neymar and Ederson out injured and Casemiro and Gabriel Jesus not called up to the final squad.
Mexico, meanwhile, are coming off a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Uruguay in front of a big crowd of El Tri fans in Denver, Colorado in their opening warmup game.
Coach Jaime Lozano will need to pick up his team and potentially make some tactical changes to avoid the easy goals down the middle and right wing that Uruguay scored on Wednesday.

Also – the choice to go with Gonzalez over Rangel in goal, is this what Lozano is thinking for Copa America? Especially after Rangel picked the ball out of his own goal four times?
Brazil: Dorival Jr. is really taking a look at the fringe players tonight. Savinho and Evanilson are both young and inexperienced at this level, but they’re the future of the Brazilian national team strike force heading towards the 2026 World Cup. Additionally, Atalanta midfielder Ederson is in line to win his first cap.

As of Friday, more than 70,000 tickets were reportedly sold. The U.S. record for a Mexico friendly match is reportedly more than 90,000 fans in attendance at the Rose Bowl in 2010 for a game against New Zealand.
1 hour, 45 mins to kickoff: The FMF (Mexican Football Federation) announced this week that Luis Angel Malagon, the expected starting goalkeeper for El Tri at Copa America, would have to withdraw from the squad with an injury. His replacement, Carlos Acevedo, goalkeeper and captain of Santos Laguna, arrived in Texas today to join El Tri as part of their preparations for the tournament.

Dorival Junior has omitted some eye-catching names from his Copa America squad with Manchester United midfielder Casemiro and Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus left out.
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is missing through injury, with Neymar Jr a long term absentee, and Real Madrid trio Eder Militao, Vinicius Jr and Rodrgyo Goes will play a limited role after joining up late following their UEFA Champions League title win.
