The latest figures released by the IWSR have recognised Cazcabel Tequila is the number one independently owned premium tequila outside north America and Mexico, with the highest growth rate achieved by an independent tequila brand over the past five years.
With a 188% CAGR achieved between 2019-2023, Cazcabel has achieved aggressive growth worldwide; now available in 50 markets worldwide, with recent launches in Taiwan and Singapore and launches into South Africa and China slated for Q4, where tequila sales grew by 40% last year.
This comes in addition to their growing presence in key European markets including Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Ireland and further afield in Australia.
Cazcabel’s sights are now set on accelerating their growth in the US, arguably the global tequila capital which accounts for 66% of global tequila volume, where the brand has been seeded in the on-trade for the past twelve months. The brand’s quality is already being recognised by bartenders and those in the industry, with Dimitrios Karagiannis, beverage director of Nerai restaurant in New York commenting: “Cazcabel Blanco deserves a larger amount of hype, especially across the industry. Great quality and amazing value for a tequila that delivers on nose and palate with a spicy, citrus note and a touch of smokiness. Works perfect for cocktails.”
Cazcabel has also expanded operations in its home state of Jalisco, Mexico with the transition to their new distillery which has increased production capacity and supports their ambition to accelerate growth even further globally.
This has supported their entrance into the Travel Retail channel this year, which accounts for 758,000 9L sales of Tequila globally. Cazcabel is now stocked in airports in Cyprus, Portugal, Dublin and the USA, via their partnership with Duty Free Global, with their Blanco and Reposado tequilas, as well as their Coffee Tequila liqueur available to travellers.
Cazcabel is a family produced, additive free tequila made with Blue Weber agave grown on Cazcabel’s family estate for a minimum of six years. Cazcabel focuses on growing quality agave that is bigger and with a higher yield than the average, meaning less land is required.
