Just two football nations remain in the CONCACAF W Gold Cup, as the USWNT take on Brazil in the final of the competition.
It will mark the 40th encounter between these two sides, with the Americans holding the upper hand having won 31 of the 39 played.
You would have to go back a decade for Brazil’s last victory over the States, coming in a 3-2 thriller at the 2014 Brasilia Tournament.
The South Americans can however take confidence from the fact that, unlike the USA, they come into this final unbeaten and in blistering form; not to mention that extra, albeit minimal, recovery time of not having to play extra-time and penalties in their semi-final win over Mexico.
Arthur Elias’s side topped their group with three wins from three, before recording comprehensive victories over Argentina (5-1) and Mexico (3-0).
This free-flowing form could cause an issue for the Americans, who have not had things quite as plain sailing over the last month.
A first-ever defeat to Mexico in their final group game meant a second-placed finishing, setting up a 3-0 win over Colombia before having to face rivals Canada in the semi-final.
With things all square at the end of extra time, and a scoreline of 2-2, proceedings went to penalties where Alyssa Naeher would provide the heroics and see them through to the final – just about.
