Mexico national team coach Jaime Lozano left out veterans Guillermo Ochoa, Raul Jimenez and Hirving Lozano from his preliminary list of 31 players for this summer’s Copa America.
Ochoa, who has represented Mexico at five World Cups, Hirving Lozano and Jesus Gallardo, also omitted from Mexico’s summer squad, started for the El Tri team that lost to the USA 2-0 in the 2024 Concacaf Nations League final.
Jaime Lozano put an emphasis on young players, including 10 under-23 players on his short list.
“It is important to lay the foundations for 2026 and 2030,” he said.
