Only a defeat to the Mexicans would prevent Felix Sanchez’s side from progressing into the knockout stage of this tournament on consecutive occasions for the first time this century.
Ecuador have not lost their final Copa America group fixture since 2011 (4-2 versus Brazil), coming from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw on this matchday in 2019 and 2021.
The last 13 times that La Tri have scored multiple goals in a single game, they have emerged victorious each time, and they have not lost when doing so since a 3-2 defeat to Mexico in June 2019.

Mexico were without captain Edson Alvarez on Wednesday after he was injured against Jamaica, with Luis Romo taking his place as a holding midfielder alongside Luis Chavez.
Three Mexicans made their first appearances at the 2024 Copa America this week, with Cesar Huerta, Israel Reyes and Alexis Vega all entering their matchday two affair as substitutes.
