Trump threatened Mexico with a high tariff if the country does not stop the “onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country.”
The Republican nominee said that if he were elected, he would, on Day One, tell Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum that she must stop the flow of migrants and drugs into the United States or risk a 25% tariff on Mexican imports.
“If they don’t stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I am going to immediately impose a 25% tariff on everything they send into the United States of America,” Trump told his supporters in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mexico is one of the U.S.’s top trading partners.
