For almost a whole day, users on social media have reported a sudden demand of requirements for foreigners and Americans so they can enter Mexico without any issues.
These are the permits Americans who travel to Mexico need
This occurred specifically at the San Ysidro-Tijuana port of entry where, since Friday, September 20, American citizens have been going through a migratory process in which they need a permit that explains their stay in Mexico.
According to testimonials, foreign citizens must go through a process to get a specific permit called the “Fee of Visitors without permit to perform remunerated activities” (DNR), in which visitors explain their visit.
This permit must be paid by foreigners who will stay in Mexico for more than 7 days, and it costs approximately $575 pesos ($30 dollars) per person. This permit allows them to stay in Mexico as a “Non-Resident”.
If you are able to prove your Mexican nationality with an official ID or Mexican passport, there’s no need to fill out this form or pay anything. Likewise, people who will not need to pay are the following:
People authorized under cooperation or educational, cultural, or scientific exchange agreements.
Children younger than 2 years old.
Ship and flight crews.
Diplomatic foreigners or with an official service visa.
In addition, visitors who enter Mexico for less than 7 days for tourism, business, or other reasons will not need to pay. However, if the time period is exceeded, this fee will be charged when leaving the country.

How to do this procedure?
The fastest way to do so is by filling out a Multiple Migration Form which you can get by clicking here. You’ll be able to pay in the following ways:
Online with a credit or debit card, where it is important to print your payment receipt and the FMM to obtain a validity stamp.
Banks in the northern Mexican border through a “Help Sheet” that can be obtained by clicking here. The bank receipt must be presented to migration authorities.
Banjército units where only the payment receipt must be presented, as no “Help Sheet” is needed.
In case you are not able to pay through any of these methods, you can pay the Federal Migration Agent (AFM) in cash when crossing the border. This same authority figure will give you a “Migratory Fee Proof”, which must be signed by the AFM and the interested party. All of this must be done before presenting your passport and the Multiple Migration Form (FFM) to obtain the validity stamp.
