Former Formula One driver Nelson Piquet Jr will join the field for this weekend’s TCR South America and TCR Brazil races at Interlagos in Brazil.
The 38-year-old, who competed in F1 for Renault in 2008 and 2009, will race a Honda Civic Type-R FK7 for the Squadra Martino team.
He joins the field for a bumper weekend in conjunction with the FIA TCR World Tour, where a field of 28 cars is set to take on the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos.

Piquet Jr is currently competing in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series, where he has been a full-time competitor since 2018. He is also racing in the European Le Mans Series this year.
The Brazilian, who was Formula E champion in its inaugural season in 2014-2015, is to take over the Honda previously raced by Rodrigo Baptista.
“I’m very happy to take part in the Brazilian round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, against the world’s most competitive drivers with front-wheel drive cars,” said Piquet.
“It’s always great facing new challenges, coming out of your comfort zone and learning something new.
“On top of this, we race in Brazil, my home playground, in front of our fans. I’m pleased to be part of such a top-level event.”
