Managua (Agenzia Fides) – “This way of proceeding is an exercise of irrational authoritarianism”, is this the message the regime sends us? We cannot remain in total silence, we cannot be silent”, said Mgr. Abelardo Mata, spokesman of the Bishops’ Conference regarding Caritas containers blocked by the government for almost a year with food and medicine.
A note sent to Fides reports that every request of Caritas Nicaragua is controlled in an exaggerated manner: documents, letters of donations, etc, as well as the documentation of the Countries where the aid comes from, mostly the United States, Germany and Canada.
“All the programs of Caritas Nicaragua and of the dioceses are social programs to help the poorest, there is nothing commercial or business. This reflects how the regime does not see the needs of those who suffer”, concluded Mgr. Mata. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 9/9/2019)
