Belarus, Nicaragua will draw up five-year plan of economic cooperation

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Nicaragua will draw up a five-year plan of economic cooperation f, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Aleksandr Yegorov told the media, BelTA learned.

On 13 December First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov met with Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, advisor for investments, trade, and international cooperation to the Nicaragua president.

“Belarus’ interaction with Nicaragua in recent years is an example of how two countries that have a common goal can strive for that goal. Over the past year, this is the fourth meeting at such a high level, including the visit of the government delegation to Managua. We see how these meetings translate into concrete economic results. The first batch of Belarusian machinery arrived in Managua. When Nicaraguans tested the machines and made sure of their quality, they expressed the desire to buy more. We have signed a number of contracts to supply more equipment. The Development Bank will finance these deliveries. We hope to expand this cooperation,” Aleksandr Yegorov said.

He stressed that Belarus’ goal is not just to sell its equipment. The idea is to promote mutual development of the two countries. “At the meeting we suggested making plans for five years to build strategic cooperation, which will allow not only to supply products to each other, but also to implement joint projects, for example, to develop infrastructure in Nicaragua. We also discussed the projects to set up assembly plants in Nicaragua to supply equipment to all countries of Central America,” Aleksandr Yegorov said.

“It is important that we work on various matters of economic, social and cultural cooperation. This allows us to better understand each other and achieve the greatest synergetic effect. I am confident that this meeting will give even greater impetus to our interaction. We have agreed that next month we will hold video links between the Belarusian and Nicaraguan parties. In the second quarter of 2025, Nicaragua will host a meeting of the joint commission for trade and economic cooperation, where we will approve the plan of interaction for five years. I believe this plan will be successfully implemented under the control of the heads of state,” he concluded.
