Holland America Line is re-routing its 2026 Grand World Voyage cruise to avoid the ongoing Houthi rebel attacks in the Red Sea.
The cruise, offered onboard the Volendam, will now visit ports in East and Southeast Asia, Central America and the United States. It will also cross the Panama Canal.
“Given the evolving situation in the region and in consultation with global security experts, Holland America has made the decision to reroute the planned voyage,” according to Holland America Line.
Holland America Line changed the final 54 days of the voyage. Travelers will get to visit 51 ports in 23 countries and territories on five continents. The cruise departs May 17, 2026, from Fort Lauderdale.
The new additions to the itinerary include Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City), Nha Trang and Halong Bay (Hanoi), Vietnam; Hong Kong; Kaohsiung and Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan; six ports in Japan; Kodiak, Sitka and Ketchikan, Alaska; Seattle, Washington, and San Diego; Manzanillo and Puerto Chiapas, Mexico; Acajutla, El Salvador; Fuerte Amador (Panama City), Panama; and Cartagena, Colombia,
“We know immersive experiences in exciting destinations are always a main draw for those choosing a world cruise,” says Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer for Holland America Line. “The dozen ports we’ve added in Asia will bring that part of the world to life for our guests. From exploring the emerald waters of Halong Bay or snorkeling in Nha Trang to overnight stays in Hong Kong, Nagasaki and Tokyo, the deep exploration of the region provides guests the opportunity to take in the culture and natural beauty of Asia as part of their world cruise.”
The world cruise still has space available, with fares starting at $30,354 per person based on double occupancy. Travelers can also book shorter segments ranging from 21 to 55 days long, including the newly added part of the itinerary.
Guests who book the entire Grand World Voyage can get up to $2,000 in onboard credits per person, a 3% pay-in-full discount, a free Wi-Fi Surf package and other perks. Travelers who book through Flight Ease can enjoy a $500 air credit per person and free roundtrip airport transfers to and from the Fort Lauderdale airport.
