Today is the last day of quarterfinal matches in the 2024 Copa America. Only four teams (of eight) in the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinals and have a chance to win the cup. Argentina and Venezuela/Canada have already secured a spot to play each other in the first semi-final game. The outcome of the Colombia vs. Panama quarterfinal game will determine which country advances to the semifinals, against either Uruguay or Brazil.
To secure a spot in the quarterfinals, Colombia placed first in Group D with two wins and a draw. So far in the Copa America, Colombia has outscored opponents 6-2, with a goal differential of +4.
Panama placed second to Uruguay in Group C, leaving the group stage with two wins and a loss. Although Panama has also scored six goals in three games like Colombia, they let in five goals, meaning Panama’s goal differential is +3.
In simpler terms, Colombia is favored to win against Panama in their quarterfinal matchup. However, anything can happen. We do know that it will be an exciting game!
