Copa America 2024: Mexico fans at State Farm Stadium
Mexico’s fans outnumbered those of Ecuador, but not by as much as one might have imagined on Sunday at the Copa America match at State Farm Stadium.
Concacaf men’s Gold Cup matches will return to State Farm Stadium in the summer of 2025, the North Amercian soccer governing body announced Wednesday.
The region’s most prestigious national team tournament will be played in the U.S. and Canada between June 14 and July 6, in 14 stadiums in 11 metropolitan areas. Sixteen national teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean will participate.
State Farm Stadium will host Gold Cup matches for the sixth consecutive tournament (held every two years) and seventh time overall. Mexico has played Gold Cup matches in Glendale in 2009, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023.
That doesn’t seem likely to change in 2025, as Mexico is always the biggest attendance draw in the Phoenix area for international soccer, and the national team continues to make Arizona a frequent destination for matches.
Mexico is the reigning champion of the Concacaf men’s Gold Cup, having defeated Panama by a score of 1-0 in the 2023 final at a sold-out SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Mexico has nine men’s Gold Cup titles, followed by the United States with seven and Canada with one.
Other NFL stadiums hosting Gold Cup matches include AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, NRG Stadium in Houston, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Game dates, where teams will play and the start of ticket sales will be announced at a later date. Interested fans can sign up at GoldCup.org for updates and ticket information.
