Uruguay Is Championed To Win Against Panama, Which Has Only Shown Twice

JAKARTA – The first matchday of Group C of the 2024 Copa America will bring together Uruguay and Panama. This match will take place at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday, June 24, Indonesian Western Time (WIB).

In this match, Uruguay is still the country that is seeded considering their success in this tournament. Uruguay recorded winning the Copa America 15 times, but the acquisition was stopped in 2011.

However, in this edition, Marcelo Bielsa’s troops still have a chance to try to win the 16th title. If that can be achieved, it means Uruguay can stay away from Argentina which has matched their 15 titles after winning in the last edition in 2021.

Unfortunately, ahead of this match Uruguay did not bring good capital. That’s because Uruguay lost to Ivory Coast 2-1 and a goalless draw against Costa Rica, they finally just won their third match of 2024 with a 4-0 win over Mexico.

However, in groups containing only the United States, Bolivia, and Panama, at least Uruguay became a favorite team to qualify from this group with the status of group winners.

On the opposing side, Panama is also trying to serve Uruguay with high confidence. They could be nervous because this is the second appearance in the Copa America in their history.

Looking at the meeting records of the two teams, Uruguay and Panama have met three times in history. From that note Uruguay won all these meetings with a record 10 goals scored and conceded only once.

In his first appearance at 2016 Copa America, Panama secured a win against Bolivia before suffering defeat in the next two games, conceded 10 goals and scored four goals.

This year’s Copa America will be very memorable for Uruguay as it will be Luis Suarez’s last appearance in the tournament. Suarez will definitely try that moment to win his second tournament after a win in 2011.
