A fresh round of negotiations has seen Nottingham Forest take a big step closer to signing winger Ramon Sosa from Argentine club Talleres.
A package including an initial fee of £11million ($14m) is close to being finalised and Forest expect the Paraguay international to have a medical before the end of the week.
Negotiations had been a protracted affair, with a deal thought to have been close at the start of the month, only for it to stall. But the latest round of talks have seen the two clubs break the stalemate and Forest are confident Sosa will move to the City Ground.
The 24-year-old began his career with River Plate and Olimpia in his home country, before moving to Argentine side Gimnasia in January 2022. After impressing there, he was signed by Talleres in January 2023.
Over the past 18 months, Sosa has evolved into one of the brightest talents in Argentine football, registering 17 goals and 13 assists in 56 matches for Talleres.
Sosa also played in all three of Paraguay’s games at the Copa America earlier this summer, taking his international tally to 14 appearances.
Meanwhile, Portugal winger Jota Silva, 25, is among the six signings already to have joined Forest this summer, after he joined from Vitoria on August 1.
