Top Brands expands retail footprint in Latin America with Paraguay Airport contract

Top Brands International has revealed plans for a new 2000 sq m duty-free store at Asunción’s Silvio Pettirossi International Airport Paraguay that will be open by mid 2020.

“Now that we’ve been awarded the Paraguay Airport contract we will focus on an exclusive retail offer across the airport,” Danny Yohoros, President of Top Brands International told DFNI.

“It’s a big store at almost 2000 sq m. It will be very formatted to the passenger profile in Paraguay,” he said.

“Paraguay is going to be an airport hub for the region. We will see a big mix of customers – passengers travelling from all the region’s big origin markets of Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay,” he added.

Yohoros confirmed the multiple category retail offer should be open by mid-2020. “It’s our most important project for the year, meanwhile we are always looking at expansion opportunities, especially for our market of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

“We are increasingly flexing our product offers depending on the PAX profile. We are looking to introduce more speciality products, more limited editions and more exclusive promotions. It’s not a case of products available across our portfolio anymore. We want to focus on diverse offers in our stores to differentiate and provide customers with something new every time they travel.”

Yohoros said the travel retail value proposition is increasingly under a spotlight for the Latin American market. “Duty free shopping is directly driven by currency fluctuations. Consumers want to see value for money but they also want to shop in duty free for unique and new to market products.”
