Captain America: Brave New World is looking to top the weekend box office in its second weekend of release, but the film is making considerably less than in its opening.

According to Variety, Disney Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World is projected to hold on to the top spot at the weekend box office with an estimated domestic take of $28.3 million.

Despite the No. 1 hold, however, Variety noted business for Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s Marvel Cinematic Universe action-adventure has dropped 68% in business in its second weekend. The film posted a $100 million opening over the four-day President’s Day weekend.

Should the estimate hold, it will boost the latest MCU chapter’s domestic tally to $141 million. Variety noted that the steep drop, however, puts it in the company of other Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which suffered a 70% drop in its second weekend after $106 million opening debut.

Captain America: Brave New World is playing in 4,105 North American theaters.

Along with the film’s international ticket sales, Variety notes that Captain America Brave New World has earned $289.4 worldwide to date against a $180 million production budget before prints and adveristing costs.

Meanwhile, Deadline projects that indie studio Neon’s The Monkey will earn $14.2 million from 3,200 North American venues this weekend.

The Monkey is writer-director Osgood Perkins’ second horror film released by Neon in the past seven months.

Per the trade publication, Perkins’ Longlegs had a record opening of $22.4 million for Neon when the smash horror thriller opened in theaters in July. If Deadline’s projection holds, The Monkey will become the second-largest opening for the indie studio.

According to Variety, The Monkey had a production budget of $10 million before prints and advertising costs.
