Peru exported 210.7 million kilos of fresh mandarins in 2024 through October, showing an increase of 32 percent compared to the 159.7 million kilos shipped in the same period of the previous year, according Agraria, quoting the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides.

This makes 2024 the year of the largest shipments of fresh mandarins by Peru, surpassing what was recorded in 2022 (206.3 million kilos).

“We have grown without having new plantations, only based on greater productivity. In this way we have overcome the barrier of 200 thousand tons,” said Cillóniz Benavides.

He explained that the main exporting regions of mandarins from Peru in the period analyzed this year were Ica with 115.6 million kilos, reflecting an increase of 37 percent compared to the 84 million kilos reported in 2023; this region accounted for 55 percent of the total.

Another important exporting region of this fruit was Lima with shipments of 77.6 million kilos, registering an increase of 43 percent versus the 54.4 million kilos of the previous year, representing 37 percent of the total exported.

The main destination for fresh mandarins from Peru this year was North America, where 82.9 million kilos were sent, followed by Europe with 77 million kilos, Latin America with 36.5 million kilos, and Asia with 14.8 million kilos, among others.
