on Thursday stated that her Government will remain firm in its strategic relationship with Brazil, as this allows for the population’s greater well-being.

At this meeting, Mrs. Boluarte highlighted that Brazil is Peru’s main trading partner in Latin America and the fourth globally.

In this regard, the Head of State specified that bilateral trade amounted to US$5.219 billion in 2023.

“It is essential that we continue to strengthen and advance the binational agreements we have with Brazil. These agreements are key to boosting the economic, logistical, and commercial development of our nations, as well as to ensuring a future of shared prosperity,” she expressed.

The top official mentioned that five priority areas have been identified to strengthen bilateral ties with the neighboring country.

One of them —she said— is the improvement of road infrastructure, which will be key to boosting the bioceanic corridor in northeastern Peru.

The president added that another priority axis is the mining sector, with the objective of developing the macro-regional mining zone in Puerto Eten, Lambayeque region. She also mentioned the agro-export axis.

The last two axes are the macro-regional industrial park and the institutional one, which seeks to strengthen the community’s institutional framework through the creation of an executing unit, she said.

“Our Government reaffirms before all of you its commitment to provide all the assistance that each of these axes requires and with them generate the progress and well-being demanded by the macro-region,” Mrs. Boluarte indicated.
