Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami Unveils New Leadership

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Miami is excited to announce the appointment of four dynamic leaders to key positions within the organization, reinforcing a commitment to empowering youth through mentorship across Miami-Dade and the Florida Keys. The new leadership team includes Christopher Williams as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Derek Wallace as Director of Development, Kendra Yarbor as Director of Institutional Giving, and Kyle Post as Event Manager.

“We are delighted to welcome Chris, Derek, Kendra, and Kyle to our leadership team,” said Gale Nelson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. “Each brings a wealth of experience and unwavering passion that will significantly amplify our mission of empowering youth in our community. We are confident that with their expertise and vision, BBBS Miami will not only continue to grow, but will elevate to new heights.”

Christopher Williams

Christopher Williams (Chris) brings over 23 years of accounting experience, with 19 years dedicated to the nonprofit sector. Originally from St. Kitts and Nevis, Chris has built a distinguished career in finance, most recently serving as the Director of Finance at YoungArts Foundation. He holds a CPA, CFE, and is a Notary Public. Chris’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Computer Science from the University of the West Indies and a Master’s in Accounting with a specialization in forensic accounting from St. Thomas University.

Derek Wallace

Derek Wallace is a seasoned leader in the nonprofit sector with a strong background in strategic planning, fundraising and community development. He joins BBBS Miami after an impactful tenure as Vice President of Advancement & Operations at Nu Deco Ensemble, where he advanced the organization’s growth and engagement strategies. Derek has also served as a panelist for several prominent foundations, including Florida Arts and Culture, Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation. His extensive experience spans roles at Ithaca College, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Yellow Barn Music Festival.

Kendra Yarbor

Kendra Yarbor joins BBBS Miami as the Director of Institutional Giving. She has a rich background in social impact and philanthropy, previously serving as the Grant Manager for the Pérez Art Museum Miami and as Grants and Development Manager for Miami Music Project. Kendra is also an advocate for youth development, with experience teaching at Brandeis University and mentoring Posse Scholars. She holds a PhD from the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University, an MDiv from Duke University, and a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kyle Post

Kyle Post joins BBBS Miami as Event Manager, bringing over 25 years of experience in entertainment and hospitality. With a career that began at Walt Disney World and later as a Cruise Director at Carnival Cruise Lines, Kyle has also managed events for the Irie Foundation. His extensive experience in event management and entertainment will play a vital role in the success of BBBS Miami’s community and fundraising events.
