2024 International Open billiard tournament is coming to St. Augustine

The 2024 International Open, a professional billiards tournament is coming to the World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort Nov. 18-26.

The 2024 International Open, a professional billiards tournament featuring 9-ball, 10-ball, and 14.1 play, will host the world’s best players from Nov. 18 through Nov. 26 at the World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort.

Pat Fleming, the tournament’s organizer, said that he simply outgrew the original Norfolk, Virginia, location.

“This new location gives us double the space,” he said in a news release. “Thirty-two tables, including eight four-table miniature arenas, will get spectators close to the action.”

Fleming said that he’s expecting more players and action with trick-shot demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday for elementary-aged children.

“We’ve also expanded our playing options, adding the International 9-Ball Semi-Pro Open and the International Straight Pool Open," he said. “There’s something for everyone!”

Fleming, a Billiard Congress of America Hall of Famer, has had a distinguished career in straight pool. Since the mid-1980s, his business, Accu-Stats Video Productions, filmed plays for statistical analysis in more than 1,000 tournaments. Recognized as the "man behind the scenes of pool’s greatest videos," Fleming has managed the International Open since 2018.

More than 200 players from the United States, Singapore, Spain, Poland, Canada, Finland and Lithuania will compete, including 2023 International 9-Ball Open champion Aloysius Yapp and semi-finalists David Alcaide and Wiktor Zielinski.

Players compete for world ranking points and for cash prizes worth up to $40,000. Spectators can purchase three levels of reserved arena seating, beginning at $30. General admission starts at $25.

The 2024 International Open features the 9-Ball Open and Semi-Pro 9-Ball Open from Nov. 18 to the 22; the Junior 9-Ball Championship from Nov. 20 to the 22; the 10-Ball Big Foot Challenge Invitational from Nov. 23 and 24; and the Straight Pool Open from Nov. 23 to the 26.
