Changes made to St Vincent's Carnival in light of hurricane impact

A series of amendments have been made to St Vincent’s Carnival shows and events for the remainder of Vincy Mas 2024.

The Royal St Vincent and The Grenadines Police Force has announced these changes.

The revised schedule now includes the Soca Monarch event on Saturday from 12pm to 8pm, and the Dimarche Gras and Panorama on Sunday from 12pm to 8 pm.

The jump-up events on both Monday and Tuesday will run from 10am to 8pm.

All private shows must conclude by 8pm, and there will be no J’ouvert festivities.

The police have also advised all street bars operating in Kingstown to cease business by 8pm.

These changes are necessitated by the devastation and loss of lives caused by Hurricane Beryl, the unavailability of electricity in approximately three-quarters of the country, which may hinder the police’s ability to ensure the safety and security of patrons, and as a show of solidarity with the region as it grapples with the destruction caused by the hurricane.
