Humanitarians, including teams from OCHA and UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC), continue to work with authorities in Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica to complete assessments and deliver assistance in affected areas. The thousands of people driven to shelter after severe damage to housing and water, power and health services are now trying to pick up the pieces as authorities work to finish restoring basic services. The UN and its partners are ramping up response, launching a $9 million response plan to assist 43,000 potentially affected people in Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This follows a recent UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) allocation of US$4 million that also includes Jamaica.

In the Eastern Caribbean, partners and authorities are working through incredible access and logistics challenges to assess the full impact of one of the worst recorded storms to ever hit Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In Jamaica, partners are working closely to coordinate support for the Government-led response, providing technical assistance for assessments and analysis
