St Vincent's Prime Minister attends Summit in Uganda

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves is in Uganda where he attended the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non- Aligned Movement (NAM), in Kampala.  

The Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines addressed the closing ceremony on Monday.  

The NAM Summit is the highest decision-making authority of the 120-member state movement. There are also 18 Observer countries and 10 Observer organisations. The gathering is convened every three years. 

The 19th Summit was held under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence”. 

On Tuesday, Gonsalves visited Makerere University in Uganda where he spent about a year as a doctoral student almost 52 years ago.  

The prime minister was given a tour of the campus, where he met the faculty and students and even visited his former dormitory. 

On January 17, Gonsalves left the State of St Vincent and the Grenadines with a delegation to Uganda. The delegation included Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Keisal Peters; Ambassador Rhonda King and Security Officer, Kendal Horne.
